Service From Home
Many of you have been asking, “How can I help during the pandemic?” As we so often sing together, “There is a light that can overcome the darkness. There is no darkness that come overcome the light.”2020欧洲杯备用网址 These are unique times, and so we are called to be men and women for others – to be LIGHTS – in unique ways. Unsure where to start? Take a look at this list of ideas to be of service within our families and local communities right now.
2020欧洲杯备用网址 Ask yourself regularly: What does my family need from me right now? How can I help relieve stress my family is experiencing? Not sure… ask a parent (or another family member). How can you surprise your family every day with a random act of kindness?
REACH OUT TO YOUR GRANDPARENTS AND/OR ELDERLY NEIGHBORS
2020欧洲杯备用网址 Can’t visit? Call or FaceTime. Play an instrument? Do a livestream “concert” or send them a video of you playing or singing. Write them a letter. If you can, drop off food or supplies at their front door. Make them a card or piece of art. Send them a text. Reach out to anyone you know who might be isolated right now.
HELP OUT WITH YOUNGER SIBLINGS
Be intentional about helping siblings with homework or leading them in an engaging activity together every day. If your parent(s) have kids at home right now, they may need you to step up. What can you teach? What might you learn together? Create together? Enjoy together? Music, magic, art, outdoor game, reading, walking, exercising, cooking, building, crafting, filming, etc.
2020欧洲杯备用网址 Look around. What needs to be done? Dishes? Vacuuming? Dusting? Mopping? Find a corner in your house that is overlooked or forgotten. Clean a disorganized game closet. Clean your own closet. Organize under your bed. Identify clothing and items you can set aside for donation at a later time. Go for a "trash walk" and clean up your neighborhood!

TACKLE A YARD PROJECT
Mow the lawn. Or a neighbor’s. Weed. Plant a garden. Now’s a great time for a spring clean up!

CHECK IN WITH YOUR LOCAL PARISH
There may be parishioners who are isolated or have specific needs. Some parishes have food banks that may be depleted right now. They may have needs you can assist with from home (calling isolated parishioners to check in, for example).

Blood banks are struggling with donations of blood and platelets. They provide these to vulnerable populations like cancer patients who continue to fight their illness in the midst of this pandemic. Donating blood is safe and the Red Cross has instituted even more precautions against COVID-10. Sign up to donate with American Red Cross or with Bloodworks NW
Jesuit Service Events! | May 25 - June 5
During these last two weeks, we have a few service events planned at Jesuit. Please join us in these community efforts!
Friday, May 29th, we will be collecting the following items in the Cronin parking lot from 10:00 am to noon:
- Recyclables. Click for a list of items.
- New socks, undies, sports bras (adult sizes only). These items will be donated to , , and , organizations that support Portland’s homeless. These are high-need items. Men’s and women’s, all sizes needed.
- Foster family care package collection. We are collecting items from the "family activities" and "gift cards" lists. Click for the lists.
- Homemade cookies! This is a Class of 2020 event. Seniors, check your email for a sign-up link!
Friday, June 5th, we will be collecting "de-constructed" sack lunches for Blanchet House in the Cronin parking lot from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. You must sign up in advance to participate. Click here for all the details you need!
